Heteroepitaxy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005239

The growth of a crystalline polymer layer on a substrate of a different chemical nature, where the crystal structure of the growing layer is influenced by the substrate's crystallographic orientation. This process typically involves lattice matching or specific interfacial interactions between the polymer and the substrate. It is a technique used to control the morphology and orientation of polymer crystals.
