Hypertelorism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005529
An abnormally increased distance between two paired organs, most commonly used to describe an increased distance between the orbits of the eyes. This condition is a physical finding, not a disease in itself, and is associated with a number of congenital syndromes and developmental abnormalities. Measurement is performed by assessing the interpupillary distance, intercanthal distance, and outer canthal distance, with values compared against age and sex-specific reference data.
