Immission

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005624

The transfer of an airborne pollutant from the atmosphere into a receptor, such as the lungs, a leaf, or a surface, the opposite of emission, which is release from a source. It describes a flow into the receptor, so it is not the same as ground level concentration, even though that concentration drives it. The word is a German borrowing and is rarely used in English.
