In-laboratory processing

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005876

Work done on the laboratory sample after it reaches the laboratory to obtain the test portions for analysis: dividing the sample into smaller units, reducing particle size by grinding or milling, drying, and mixing for homogeneity. Chemical steps such as isolating or concentrating the analyte count as sample preparation rather than in-laboratory processing.
