  "definition": "The overall shortfall in accuracy of a chemical measurement process, made up of two components: imprecision, the random scatter of results, and bias, the systematic deviation from the true value. It is a property of the measurement process rather than of one result, and the two components are reported as a pair, never merged into one scalar. Uncertainty is a different quantity, which derives from the imprecision and the bounds on bias.",
