Inactivated vaccine
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005748
A vaccine preparation containing microorganisms, such as viruses or bacteria, that have been killed by chemical or physical treatment. The pathogen cannot replicate or cause disease, but its surface antigens remain intact to stimulate an immune response from the host. Unlike attenuated vaccines, inactivated vaccines cannot revert to a virulent form but may require multiple booster doses to maintain immunity.
