Intake
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005911
The amount of a substance that is taken into the body over a specific period, regardless of whether it is absorbed. This process occurs through inhalation, ingestion, or dermal contact, representing the total exposure at the body's boundaries. Intake is quantified in units of mass per unit time, such as milligrams per day, and is a distinct measure from uptake, which is the amount that crosses a biological barrier and is absorbed.
