Primary protection standard

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009443

A limit on the burden of a pollutant, or a marker substance for it, that an exposed organism or one of its tissues is allowed to carry, or on the amount the organism is allowed to take in under stated conditions. The limit is framed around what reaches the target itself, and an acceptable daily intake for a food additive is a familiar example of an intake limit of this kind.
