Intensified charge coupled device detector

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013199

A type of detector that combines a charge-coupled device (CCD) with an image intensifier, such as a microchannel plate. The intensifier amplifies very low light signals before they reach the CCD, significantly increasing the detector's sensitivity. This makes it suitable for detecting weak or transient light emissions in spectroscopic applications.
