Isotones
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006226
Nuclides that possess the same number of neutrons but differ in their atomic number (number of protons) and thus in their mass number. Consequently, isotones are different chemical elements. For example, carbon-14 and nitrogen-15 are isotones, both containing eight neutrons but having different numbers of protons.
