Fast neutrons
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013093
Neutrons possessing high kinetic energy, typically above 0.1 MeV, which are produced during nuclear reactions such as fission. These neutrons interact with matter primarily through elastic scattering, causing recoil of atomic nuclei. Fast neutrons are used in neutron activation analysis for the determination of certain elements.
