Fissionable

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004451

Describing a nuclide that is capable of undergoing nuclear fission, regardless of the energy of the incident neutron. This includes nuclides that fission with thermal neutrons (fissile) and those that require fast neutrons for fission. Uranium-238 is a fissionable nuclide, but it requires fast neutrons to undergo fission.
