Isotope pattern
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013225
The characteristic distribution of isotopic peaks observed in a mass spectrum for a molecule containing elements with multiple stable isotopes. This pattern arises from the natural abundance of isotopes for elements like carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and chlorine. The relative intensities and m/z values of these peaks provide information about the elemental composition of the molecule.
