L
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006395
A stereochemical descriptor used to denote the configuration of a chiral center relative to D-glyceraldehyde. This convention assigns 'l' to compounds whose configuration at the highest-numbered chiral carbon corresponds to L-glyceraldehyde. It is primarily used for carbohydrates and amino acids, but has largely been superseded by the R/S system.
