Left-to-right convention
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006513
A drawing convention for mechanisms in which the reactants are arranged so that the bonds that will form or break lie along one line and the arrows showing electron movement point from left to right. In a substitution, for example, the nucleophile is drawn on the left and the substrate with its leaving group on the right.
