Laryngospasm

A sudden, involuntary muscular contraction of the vocal cords and laryngeal muscles, which temporarily obstructs the airway. This reflex can be triggered by irritation of the larynx, such as during intubation, aspiration of foreign material, or exposure to irritant gases. It results in difficulty breathing and a characteristic high-pitched sound.
