Live time

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006711

The actual period during which a radiation detector is capable of processing incoming signals, excluding any dead time when the detector is busy or unresponsive. It represents the effective counting time for acquiring data in nuclear spectroscopy. The live time is often displayed by multichannel analyzers.
