Local flame temperature

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006735

An effective flame temperature, in kelvin, obtained for one chosen element with a particular sensor and representing an average over the region observed. Flames and other plasmas are not homogeneous, being cooler toward their edges, so no single point temperature describes them. The value changes with the plasma type, the gas composition, and how the thermometric species is distributed in the observed region.
