Macroinitiator

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006868

A macromolecule that contains one or more initiating sites capable of initiating the polymerization of monomers. This allows for the synthesis of block copolymers or star polymers by growing new polymer chains from the macromolecular backbone. Examples include polymers functionalized with atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) initiating groups.
