Meconium

The first stool passed by a newborn infant, composed of materials ingested during fetal life, such as amniotic fluid, shed epithelial cells, mucus, and bile. This thick, dark green, tar-like substance is typically sterile and odorless. Its presence or absence can indicate fetal distress or gastrointestinal abnormalities.
