Mesothelioma

A rare and aggressive cancer that originates in the mesothelium, the protective lining of internal organs. It most commonly affects the pleura (lining of the lungs), but can also occur in the peritoneum (lining of the abdomen) or pericardium (lining of the heart). Exposure to asbestos is the primary risk factor for its development.
