Mesosphere

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007230

The layer of the Earth's atmosphere situated above the stratosphere and below the thermosphere. In this region, temperature generally decreases with increasing altitude due to decreasing absorption of solar radiation by ozone. It extends from approximately 50 kilometers to 85 kilometers above the Earth's surface.
