Tropopause

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012323

The boundary layer in the Earth's atmosphere that separates the troposphere from the stratosphere. It is characterized by an abrupt change in the temperature lapse rate, where temperature stops decreasing with altitude and begins to increase or remain constant. This layer typically occurs at an altitude of about 8 to 15 kilometers, varying with latitude and season.
