Troposphere
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012324
The lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere, extending from the surface up to an average altitude of about 12 kilometers. This region contains approximately 80% of the atmosphere's mass and almost all of its water vapor. Weather phenomena and most atmospheric chemistry processes occur within the troposphere.
