Stratosphere
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011463
The layer of Earth's atmosphere situated above the troposphere and extending upwards to the stratopause. This region is characterized by a temperature inversion, where temperature increases with altitude due to the absorption of ultraviolet radiation by the ozone layer. It typically ranges from about 10 km to 50 km above the Earth's surface.
