Michaelis-Menten mechanism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007301
A specific reaction mechanism for enzyme catalysis that involves the reversible formation of an enzyme-substrate complex, followed by the irreversible conversion of the complex into product and free enzyme. This mechanism forms the basis for Michaelis-Menten kinetics. It is a two-step process where the enzyme binds to the substrate before catalysis occurs.
