Maximum velocity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007061

The highest rate at which an enzyme-catalyzed reaction proceeds when the enzyme is saturated with substrate. At this point, all active sites on the enzyme molecules are occupied, and the reaction rate is limited only by the enzyme's intrinsic catalytic efficiency. This value is a key parameter in Michaelis-Menten kinetics, often denoted as Vmax.
