Micronucleus test
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007343
A cytogenetic assay used to detect chromosomal damage or aneuploidy in cells by identifying micronuclei. Micronuclei are small, extra nuclear bodies that contain lagging chromosomes or acentric chromosome fragments that were not incorporated into the main nucleus during cell division. This test is widely used in genotoxicity assessment to identify clastogens (agents causing chromosome breakage) and aneugens (agents causing chromosome loss).
