Montreal protocol

An international environmental treaty designed to protect the Earth's ozone layer by phasing out the production and consumption of ozone-depleting substances. This agreement, signed in 1987, has successfully reduced the atmospheric concentration of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and other harmful chemicals. It is considered one of the most successful international environmental agreements.
