Mössbauer thickness

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007592

A dimensionless parameter in Mössbauer spectroscopy that quantifies the effective thickness of an absorber material. It is proportional to the product of the resonant absorption cross-section, the number of Mössbauer nuclei per unit area, and the recoil-free fraction of the absorber. This value influences the shape and intensity of the Mössbauer spectrum, particularly the saturation effects observed in thick absorbers.
