Absorber

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000072

A device or material that takes up matter or energy from its surroundings through the process of absorption. In atmospheric chemistry, it is a piece of apparatus, such as a bubbler or impinger, used to bring a gas into contact with a liquid to remove specific components. In nuclear chemistry, it is a material placed between a source and a detector to selectively reduce the intensity of radiation.
