Myotome

A segment of muscle or a group of muscles innervated by a single spinal nerve root. In embryonic development, myotomes are formed from the somites and differentiate into skeletal muscles of the trunk and limbs. Each myotome corresponds to a specific dermatome, which is the area of skin supplied by the same nerve root.
