Occluded particle

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008179

A particle made of two polymers in which one polymer appears as several separate phase domains embedded in a matrix of the other. Domain count and size differ from particle to particle, and their placement inside the particle is often uneven. This arrangement is also called microdomain morphology, as in high-impact polystyrene, where rubber particles hold many small polystyrene inclusions.
