Open film
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008250
A film that can exchange mass with the coexisting bulk phases for all of its components. A partly open film allows exchange of only certain components, while a closed film has a fixed mass. The classification concerns material exchange with the surrounding phases, not whether the film is continuous or full of holes.
