Order-disorder transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008302
A phase transition in which a system changes from an ordered state to a disordered state, or vice versa, often involving the arrangement of atoms, spins, or molecules. Below the transition temperature, there is a specific arrangement, while above it, the arrangement becomes random. An example is the transition in beta-brass, where copper and zinc atoms become randomly distributed at high temperatures.
