Structural disorder
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011490
Any deviation from a perfectly ordered, periodic arrangement of atoms or molecules within a material. This can include defects such as vacancies, interstitial atoms, dislocations, or a lack of long-range order in amorphous regions. In polymers, structural disorder often arises from irregular chain packing, varying tacticity, or the presence of different conformers.
