Oxocarbons

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008404

A class of organic compounds composed solely of carbon and oxygen atoms, where all or nearly all carbon atoms are bonded to oxygen atoms. These compounds often feature cyclic or polycyclic structures with a high degree of unsaturation. Examples include carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and squaric acid.
