Parasitic twin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008457
A severely malformed fetus that is physically attached to a more developed, relatively normal co-twin, known as the autosite. The parasitic twin lacks a complete brain or heart and depends on the autosite's organ systems for survival. This condition arises from an incomplete separation of monozygotic twins during early embryonic development.
