Partial charge transfer reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008481
A reaction between an ion and a neutral species in which a multiply charged reactant ion has its charge reduced, as when a doubly charged ion captures one electron and becomes singly charged. Each transfer moves a whole electron, so the charge falls in integer steps. Partial charge exchange is a synonym for the same process.
