Charge-permutation reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012971
An ion-neutral reaction in which the magnitude, the sign, or both, of the charge on the reactant ion change, a class that covers charge transfer, charge exchange, charge stripping and charge inversion. Charge stripping, in which a fast singly charged ion collides with a neutral target gas and loses an electron to become doubly charged, is one example. The class is broader than charge transfer, in which the reactant ion ends up neutral.
