Particle sorbent
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008509
A solid material in the form of discrete particles used in extraction techniques to selectively adsorb or absorb analytes from a fluid sample. These materials, such as silica gel, alumina, or polymeric resins, form the stationary phase in methods like solid-phase extraction (SPE) and are chosen based on their affinity for the target compounds. The effectiveness of the extraction depends on particle characteristics including size, pore diameter, and surface area, with typical particle sizes for SPE ranging from 40 to 60 micrometers.
