Photodesorption
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008842
The process by which molecules adsorbed on a surface are released into the gas phase upon illumination. This phenomenon occurs when absorbed photons provide sufficient energy to break the adsorbate-surface bond or induce electronic transitions that weaken the interaction. It is the reverse process of photoadsorption.
