Plasma lipoproteins
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009015
Complex particles found in blood plasma that consist of a core of hydrophobic lipids (triglycerides and cholesterol esters) surrounded by a hydrophilic shell of phospholipids, cholesterol, and apolipoproteins. These structures are responsible for transporting lipids throughout the body. They are classified by density, such as high-density lipoproteins (HDL) and low-density lipoproteins (LDL).
