Plasma ionization temperature
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009014
A theoretical temperature that describes the degree of ionization of elements within a plasma, based on the relative populations of neutral atoms and their corresponding ions. It is derived from the Saha equation, which relates the ratio of ion to neutral atom concentrations to temperature. This temperature is often higher than the excitation temperature in non-local thermodynamic equilibrium plasmas.
