Poynting correction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009338
A thermodynamic correction applied to the solubility of a gas in a liquid when the pressure of the gas is significantly high. It accounts for the effect of the increased pressure on the activity coefficient of the dissolved gas in the liquid phase. This correction is particularly relevant in high-pressure systems, such as those encountered in supercritical fluid extractions.
