Predatory mite test
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009365
A soil toxicity test in which adult female predatory mites, usually Hypoaspis aculeifer, are exposed to a test substance mixed into artificial soil. After about 14 days the surviving females and the juveniles produced are counted, giving survival and reproduction endpoints. The mite stands in for soil-dwelling fauna, and the method is standardised as OECD Test Guideline 226.
