Proton affinity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009608
The negative of the enthalpy change for the gas-phase reaction of a chemical species with a proton to form its conjugate acid. It represents the intrinsic basicity of a molecule or ion in the absence of solvent effects. Proton affinity is typically measured in kJ/mol.
