Radical exit frequency

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009852

The average number of times a radical leaves a polymer particle per unit time, counted per radical present, in a dispersed polymerization such as an emulsion system. It acts as a first-order rate coefficient with units of s-1, so the total exit rate from a particle scales with the number of radicals it holds. It falls as particle size increases and sets, together with the entry frequency, the average number of radicals per particle.
