Rebound reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010004
A reaction in a molecular beam experiment whose products are scattered backwards relative to the motion of the centre of mass of the colliding pair. It points to a collision with a small impact parameter, in which the reactants approach nearly head-on and the newly formed product recoils. Its counterpart, a stripping reaction, sends the products forward.
