Rebound

The exacerbation or recurrence of symptoms, often with increased intensity, after the cessation of a therapeutic agent or exposure to a substance. This phenomenon occurs when the body's homeostatic mechanisms overcompensate for the removal of the external influence. For example, rebound insomnia can occur after discontinuing certain sleep medications.
